Introduction to iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation

  • MOA Wellness Center 600 Queen St C-2 Honolulu, HI 96813 (map)

Based on the ancient teachings of meditation, iRest is an evidence-based transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical, and spiritual healing and well-being.

Both integrative and restorative in nature, iRest increases coping skills and helps navigate recovery from traumas of the mind as well as traumas in the body. The practice of iRest provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, release stress, increase resiliency, improve your interpersonal relationships, and provide you with greater mastery and control in your life.

People who practice iRest report:
• Reduced depression, fear and anxiety
• Greater ability to relax and enjoy life
• Reduced insomnia and levels of stress
• Improved interpersonal relations
• Reduced chronic and acute pain
•Increased inner peace and well-being

In this two-hour workshop you will:
•learn the origins of iRest Yoga Nidra
•understand the benefits of the practice and learn how the practice is being used across the country to heal PTSD, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, and more.
•review of the 10 stages of an iRest meditation practice
•participate in an iRest meditation

Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat and any props they use for meditation such as bolsters, blankets, and pillows. The practice of iRest is typically done laying on a yoga mat but can also be done seated. The iRest meditation we will do is 35 minutes long. If you do not have “meditation props” please bring a blanket and pillow for your practice. Participants are also encouraged to bring pen and paper.
